The Kwara State Government has announced the appointment of Alhaji Lanre Abdulquadri as the substantive provost, College of Nursing, Oke-Ode.
Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr. Abolore Alabi made the disclosure while handing over his letter of appointment to the institution's Governing Council Chairperson, Hajia Mariam Ibrahim in Ilorin.
Dr. Alabi described the appointment as a welcome development, pointing out that it was based on merit which did not involved any form of lobbying whatsoever.
He, however, charged the new provost to put to bare his wealth of knowledge and vast experience to reform the institution.
He directed the board of the institution to ensure proper handing over and taking over by the new provost within the next 48 hours.
In her brief remarks, the Governing Board Chairperson, Hajia Mariam Ibrahim commended the state government for appointing the right person to the position.
According to her, the appointment was a round peg in a round hole, and charged the new provost to make the citadel of learning an institution to reckon with.
Also speaking, the Director, Quality Assurance of the Ministry, Elder Joseph Afolayan said the position was a litmus test for the new provost and charged him to live up to expectation.
Elder Afolayan urged the provost to run a transparent and an all inclusive administration in the College.
In his acceptance speech, Alhaji Abdulquadri said his vision for the institution was to reform the college to be a force to reckon with, promising to improve on the porous security situation of the College.
He assured that the Institution's library would be revamped while e-learning would be introduced in the school system.
Meanwhile, the state government has approved and released N100 Million for the renovation of the institution with another 80 Million in the pipeline for accreditation.
