Speaking to Journalists after the inauguration ceremony in Lafia, Chairman of the State’s campaign council, Joshua Angadzi, said the members are expected to canvass for votes for the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and other candidates of the party across the 13 Local Government Areas of the state.
He called on supporters of the party to eschew all forms of violence during and after the campaigns, adding that anyone found causing trouble in the guise of campaigning for the party, would be handed over to the security agencies for prosecution.
Angadzi who chided the All Progressives Congress led government at the federal and state levels for failing to deliver the dividends of democracy to citizens of the country, expressed confidence that Peter Obi and other candidates of the party will emerge victorious in the 2023 general election.
He said, “Today, we have just inaugurated the 148 campaign council members. They are to go round the state to canvass for votes for Mr. Peter Obi and all our candidates in Nasarawa state. The APC government both at the national and state levels have failed.
There is insecurity everywhere, prices of food stuff have gone too high in the market and so many wrong things are happening in the country. So, the time has come for us to send them packing so that Nigeria can be better for all of us.”
Violence had affected the outcome of previous elections in the state, so in the 2023 elections, we will not allow any of our supporters to be involved in violence because we want credible leaders to be elected into office. So anyone who looks for trouble will be prosecuted by the security agencies.”
On his part, the State LP Chairman, Alexander Emmanuel who explained that members of the campaign council are comprised of men, women and youths, cautioned them against involving themselves in anti-party activities, saying that “anyone caught sabotaging the efforts of the party will be sanctioned accordingly
The Board of Trustees of the party in the state have been dissolved because the constitution of the party does not support having such an association at the state levels,” he added.
Our correspondent reports that the 148 members of the Nasarawa LP campaign council were inaugurated by the party’s lawyer, Barrister Yusuf Zakari Edego.
