The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) has replied to the editors of THISDAY/Arise Television over an allegation of attempting to silence free and fair journalism.
THISDay media group had accused the APC campaign of demanding the removal of Shaka Momodu, THISDAY editor, and Rufai Oseni, The Morning Show co-host, from their current positions.a
In a publication on Monday, the media group said the APC campaign accused it of blackmail after the APC flagbearer, Bola Tinubu, refused to honour an invitation to attend a town hall series organised by Arise TV.
Reacting in a statement on Monday night, the Directorate of the Media and Publicity of the APC Campaign berated the media group for accusing its leadership of trying to silence free and fair journalism.
In the statement issued by Bayo Onanuga and Dele Alake, the APC campaign said the accusation of attempting to bully the media is “baseless and stupid”
The campaign also alleged that THISDAY newspaper is notorious for publishing unfounded rumours masquerading as truth and asked the media group to stop blackmailing its standard bearer into attending its programmes.
The statement reads: “It is instructive that Obaigbena’s media group is isolated in making this frivolous allegation against the duo.
